Vice President, Finance - Health System
Job Summary:
Responsible for overall financial operations, activities, direction and planning for the UTMB Health System including strategic financial planning, financial reporting, financial and operations analysis, accounting, UTMB Health System capital planning and reporting, operating funds management, and labor management. The VP Finance, Health System reports to the Executive Vice President, Chief Executive Officer of the Health System with dotted line responsibility to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This position has significant interaction, decision making responsibility and accountability with members of Business and Finance, as well as, the Health System team. Specifically, this position will align with the VP Decision Support, VP Revenue Cycle, VP Finance Academic Enterprise, VP Contracting Strategies, UTMB Health System VPs, and the VP Information Services in all matters related to the UTMB Health System. This position is a member of and works with all members of the Health System executive management team.
Scope: Hospitals and Clinics, Correctional Managed Care (CMC), Health System Capital planning and reporting, Governmental Reimbursement, Clinical revenue accounting, HealthCare Systems Inc.
Minimum Qualifications:
- MBA and/or CPA
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience, including 5 years in a senior management position
Preferred Qualifications:
- Healthcare experience within an Academic Medical Center
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
- Strong health care finance operations knowledge.
- Strong knowledge of financial applications, processes, and GAAP.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a high degree of professionalism in dealing with staff at all levels of the institution.
- Strong project and change management skills
- Superior problem-solving skills.
- Ability to develop, to prioritize, and accomplish goals.
- Ability to analyze and evaluate data and make appropriate decisions/recommendations.
- Evidence of effective leadership experience.
