Medical Assistant II - Community & Population Health
Job Summary:
To provide technical, supportive, age specific and developmentally appropriate patient care functions for assigned clinical area.
The Medical Assistant II may function as a member of a Patient Centered Medical Home clinical team or may function in a role that includes routine administrative and clinical tasks. The Medical Assistant II has advanced Medical Assistant skills and is proficient in independently maintaining a positive patient experience by consistently exceeding expectations in customer service and patient care.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school or equivalent. Three years experience.Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with a nationally recognized accreditation organization (AAMA, AMT, NCCT, NHA or other). CPR Certification required.
SPECIFIC JOB RELATED DUTIES:
• Preferred candidate will be fluent in English and Spanish speaking
• Chronic disease management and prevention activities in both the office and clinical setting
• Potential liaison activities with other community health providers
• Patient engagement/relationship building will be critical
• Other related duties as assigned
• NOTE: This position is funded through a grant and is contingent upon continuation of the agreement/award and may be subject to termination or salary reduction upon the earliest of the following: 1) the expiration of the source of funds, or 2) the cancellation of the project, program, or activity which has created the position.
PREFERRED SKILLS/COMPETENCY:
• Experience with initiating and conducting quality measure improvement in a clinical care setting
• Knowledge around clinic workflow and patient flow
• Understanding of Epic Cadence and current UTMB scheduling practices
• Strong analytical skills
• Familiarity with AIDET or other customer service concepts
